HOUSTON, TX — Christopher Dorang, PE, has been named a Senior Vice President and Maritime National Technical Director at WSP, an engineering, environment, and professional services firm. Dorang, based in Houston, Texas, oversees quality execution of maritime projects across the U.S., bringing nearly 30 years of maritime experience to his new role.

As a Technical Director, Dorang is responsible for managing project teams, assisting with proposals, and leading design development and fostering client service. Additionally, he supports growth and development of WSP’s maritime team by providing mentorship and technical guidance, and is a key participant in recruiting and hiring technical professionals.

“Christopher’s arrival at WSP further solidifies our firm’s position as a leader in the U.S. maritime market,” said Kosal Krishnan, Senior Vice President and Maritime National Market Leader for WSP. “He has worked extensively as an Engineering Design Manager, Project Manager, and has held numerous leadership and technical roles on multiple significant port facility projects across the globe. His experience covers the full breadth of the maritime industry, which will help inform our dynamic group of marine engineers and improve critical waterfront facilities for our clients.”

Prior to joining WSP, Dorang served as a Senior Project Manager and Senior Technologist for an international engineering services company that planned, designed, and built port infrastructure. He has delivered dozens of projects worldwide including dry dock facilities, container terminal design, bulk material facilities, cruise facilities, and U.S. Navy facilities. He has extensive experience in design-build, early contractor involvement, and alternate delivery.

Dorang is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

The WSP maritime group is comprised of analysts, planners, and engineers with a variety of technical backgrounds. The team’s economists, operations analysts, civil, environmental, ocean, and structural engineers, and maritime planners serve clients across the U.S. and internationally.
